Letter to Parents 26th June 2026

June 26th 2026

Dear Parents and students

Thank you for your support of all of us - students and staff – here in school this week. Students had earned 2715 Excellent Effort Points by 11.20am this morning.

We will look forward to welcoming you all to Sports’ Day, rearranged for Thursday, July 16th.

Once again, I have been touched by the many words of thanks received by teachers from students and their parents as they finish their Public Examinations and following our students’ performance of King Lear at the Marlowe Theatre on Monday evening.

Last Friday evening I had the pleasure of attending our summer Music Show. More than 20 pieces from a wide range of genres were played or sung, and the standards reached by all involved were fabulous. My thanks to parents, as well as the wonderful staff for all their support and encouragement of the students. Mrs Johnson has been a wonderful and formidable presence encouraging and leading the choir back to true excellence in the years since the pandemic, and the result of this work was plain to see throughout the evening.

On Saturday, Brockhill and Instep Dancers participated in the Wavelengths Dance Festival at the Quarterhouse and Mr Haisell attended a celebration of Armed Forces Day at Oaklands in Hythe, where a number of Brockhill students participated as scouts or cadets.

The Children’s Commissioner, Dame Rachel de Souza has asked me to encourage students to participate in her final survey The Big Future.

We were delighted to welcome back so many of our Year 11 students as incoming Year 12s to Sixth Form Induction. On Tuesday, they took a break from lessons and visited Wingham Wildlife Park for the day with Mr Travers, Ms Martin and Ms Dunn. This was a special day as we start out on our journey with Team 2028.

Years 10 and 12 students have now completed their Pre-public Examinations, where teachers do not provide support and many of them have now received their results. These students carry our hopes for next year, and we have been really impressed by their resolve and just how quickly they have picked up on the Examination arrangements.

Of course, we do not just prepare students for Public Examinations. We are committed to the well-being and welfare of all our students from Years 7 – 13 and we regularly give attention to this in our Family Friday Tutor time.

Please do ensure your daughter or son reads for 20 minutes a day. Reading is just so helpful to student development in all their subjects. Digital Library

The weather forecast suggests a significant drop in temperature for next week, which admittedly seems hard to imagine at the time of writing.

We will return to full school uniform from Monday. I will of course keep a close eye on the MET Office forecasts from now until the end of term and act where necessary.

Thank you for all your support during this very hot week and have a lovely weekend.

Yours Sincerely,

Charles Joseph

Principal
