Letter to Year 11 Parents - Changes to Sixth Form for 2026

15th January 2026

Dear Parent

As your child approaches the end of Year 11, we would like to share some exciting developments taking place in our Sixth Form from September 2026.

Over the past year, we have reviewed our Sixth Form provision and carried out focus groups with students to better understand what they value and what will best prepare them for future success. As a result of this feedback, we are pleased to introduce a number of positive changes designed to support student achievement, independence, and wellbeing.

A redesigned Sixth Form environment
Our Sixth Form facilities will undergo a complete refurbishment to create a professional, purposeful learning environment. This will include:
• Dedicated laptop and independent study areas
• Group work pods to encourage collaboration
• Access to a full-time Learning Mentor to provide academic and pastoral support

This space is being designed to mirror modern workplaces and support students as they transition to higher education, apprenticeships, or employment.

Greater flexibility in the week
From September 2026, Sixth Form lessons will be delivered across a four-day teaching week. This structure is intended to promote independence, effective time management, and opportunities for enrichment, wider reading, work experience, or independent study.

A revised start time
The Sixth Form school day will begin at 8:55am. Students are welcome to arrive earlier if they wish to use study facilities.

New and improved course options
We are also delighted to be launching a new E-Sports course. This course will allow students to explore a fast-growing industry while developing valuable skills such as teamwork, strategic thinking, communication, and digital literacy. We have also made important changes to our option blocks. Many students told us they wanted to study Environmental Science and Animal Management but were unable to do so due to timetable clashes. From September 2026, these subjects will no longer clash, allowing students to choose both.

These developments reflect our commitment to providing a modern, supportive Sixth Form experience that responds directly to student voice and prepares young people for their next steps.

All Year 11 students will have the chance to meet one-to-one with a member of the Sixth Form team to talk about their next steps after Year 11. These conversations will help students explore their options, ask questions, and feel confident about the choices ahead of them.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to working with you and welcoming your child into our Sixth Form.

Yours sincerely,

Charles Joseph

Principal
