Letter to Parents 16th January 2026

January 16th 2026

Dear Parents and Students

Thank you for all your support this week. Students have worked very hard this week and earned 4201 Excellent Effort Points by 2pm today.

If you have any questions or concerns about SEND provision and how it relates to your child, please make an appointment to meet a member of our SENDCO team during our weekly Meet the SENDCO sessions held on Monday mornings. Please just email send@brockhill.kent.sch.uk by the end of Thursday of the previous week, so we can get back to you with a suitable time.

We have sent a number of Homework messages today. Please do check in which subjects your daughter or son is due to submit homework assignments.  Our homework durations aide memoire to teachers, sets out expectations for homework in each subject. In Examination Year Groups though, students who do not submit homework assignments will simply perform less well in Public Examinations. Your support is vital here.

Since returning to school, we have issued reminders to students about their Independent Learning Folders – ILFs. Our aims are to give students greater ownership and responsibility for their homework and for this to align more fully with what they learn in class, as well as to support parents to oversee their child’s Homework assignments. By way of reminder please see our Independent Learning Folder Reminders

We have also discussed the importance of high attendance at school with students this morning.

The difference in outcomes for a student with 95% attendance and 90% attendance is stunning.

We aim to provide students with a ‘Window on the World’ and ensure as many activities beyond the classroom as we can. On Monday, members of the Royal Shakespeare Company and team members from the Marlowe Theatre visited Brockhill to support student rehearsals of extracts from King Lear. We look forward to student performances at the Marlowe Theatre. On Tuesday, 44 students from our younger Year Groups visited the Brighton Aquarium with their Science teachers. And yesterday our girls won their match against Wye School here at Brockhill 4 -2, whilst our Dodgeballers won their matches at Three Hills and have qualified for the County Championship in Medway.

Here is our new Digital Library for this term. It contains exciting and enjoyable books for each year Group from Years 7 – 13. We want every student to read for pleasure for 20 minutes daily. Please have them choose a book and read each day.

Keeping our children safe online is a concern for all of us, and we aim to provide you with regular information to support with this. The following guide contains some useful tips.

Please do remind your daughter or son that we offer a free hot breakfast to all students before school begins. Some young people skip or just do not want to eat breakfast early in the morning but can become very hungry later on. And finally:
