Letter to Parents 5th June 2026
June 5th 2026
Dear Parents and students
Thank you for your support this week getting the students back into school punctually each day following the holiday. We have also sent 3751 Excellent Effort Points since Monday. Your support is essential and very much appreciated.
This week we have issued new Homework booklets covering all subjects for students. The aims of our Independent Learning Folders – ILFs are to give students greater ownership and responsibility for their homework and for this to align more fully with what they learn in class, as well as to support parents to oversee their child’s Homework assignments. By way of reminder please see our Independent Learning Folder Reminders
Public Examinations are well underway and students are acquitting themselves well. Years 10 & 12 students will also sit Walking Talking Mock (teachers help) and then Pre-public (teachers do not help) Examinations this term to give them a flavour of next school year, and we will provide more details to them in the coming days.
Sixth Form Induction for current Year 11 students will take place from Monday, June 22nd – Wednesday, June 24th.
This half-term, we will be continuing to ensure students access as many extra-curricular opportunities as possible, and we look forward to welcoming parents to Sports’ Day on Friday, June 26th. It was so lovely to see so many of you there last year, so please do join us if you can!
We ended last half-term by sending 942 letters of commendation to parents to recognise students’ submission of personal best class and homework assignments, which are in addition to 666 attendance commendations awarded for 95%+ which we also sent. We look forward to recognising high levels of student achievement and attendance at the end of this half-term.
Beyond the classroom this week, Mrs Sacramento led a group of 30 Year 8 students to Berck-sur-Mer for immersive language activities and enjoyment! Since Wednesday, 12 Years 9 & 10 students have been working with Ms Moxey creating their own costumes for the Charivari Festival in Folkestone this weekend.
Yesterday, our Subject Ambassadors from all Year Groups led a primary school student workshop based on Phtography, Animal Care and English at Barham Primary School. And today, our Year 12 Environmental Science students are studying orchids, insects and flowers at Stelling Minnis.
Last evening, our Mr Haisell attended Folkestone and Hythe District Council’s Volunteering Awards Presentation Evening, where Brockhill was recognised for Excellence in Volunteering and presented with an Award by Councillor Blakemore. I am immensely proud of all the work our students undertake volunteering. They make and will continue to make our world a better and kinder place!
A small number of our students will benefit from a fidget toy when in class. However, when students bring ‘squishy’ fidgets into school they split, which causes a disruption to learning and difficulties in cleaning the resulting mess. Fidget toys need to be small, silent and not distracting of others.
Please ask your child to choose a book from our latest digital library. Reading for 20 minutes a day impacts on student attainment across all their subjects. Digital Library Summer Term
Reminder regarding Mobile Phones
We wish all our students and their families a peaceful weekend.
Yours Sincerely,
Charles Joseph
Principal
