Letter to Parents - 18th March 2026
March 18th 2026
Dear Parents
I attended an online meeting for Kent Headteachers hosted by the United Kingdom Health Security Agency late yesterday afternoon in respect of the meningitis outbreak.
The advice given to schools by senior medical practitioners was very clearly that we should continue all activities as normal, as the risk of infection is so low.
We will follow that advice, and for now all trips and activities will continue to take place as normal and as scheduled.
Clearly however, this is an evolving situation in Kent which we are all watching carefully and with concern.
I am reiterating my assurance given to you yesterday that we will proceed with an abundance of caution and of course transparency.
Today, we have continued to talk to the students about the importance of hand hygiene along with basic messages about preventative measures we can all take to minimise the risk of spreading infection.
Preventative Measures - Sharing is not Caring
Later this week, we will share information from the Kent Immunisation team about planned vaccinations for Year 9 students to take place in May. These were planned and scheduled prior to the recent outbreak. So please do not be concerned when you receive the letter.
Thank you all as ever for your support.
Yours sincerely,
Charles Joseph Principal
