Letter to Parents 5th December 2025

December 5th 2025

Dear Parents

Thank you for your support this week and particularly for getting the students back into school so promptly this morning after yesterday’s move to online learning.  We have awarded 2699 Excellent Effort Points this week!

This morning, we celebrated the successes of the 82 students in Year 11, whose performance was most improved at our recent Pre-public GCSE examinations. Of those 82 students, 80 were present.

We note the importance of 98%+ attendance to school and how high attendance is such a driver of Public Examination outcomes. Our own analysis of the summer GCSE results for last year’s Year 11 students shows just that.

The difference in outcomes for a student with 95% attendance and 90% attendance is stunning.

Unfortunately, a small number of students, who had passed to their parents a falsified ‘letter’ received via social media suggesting that Brockhill was closed, did not attend today. The ‘letter’ was of pretty poor quality and unconvincing.

Please see our letters from yesterday in respect of our need to close the school and our emergency procedure.

All such communications are sent via the school’s InTouch services or SIMS App and are placed on the school website. Our procedures do not include emails from private email addresses or use of non-official social media to forward ‘communications.’

20 of our A level History and Government & Politics students, led by Mr Boston and Ms Stylianades, are due to return from a week in Berlin where they have seen and learnt so much.

Our Young Farmers were a credit to us over 2 days at the Fat Stock Show at Ashford Market, where they won 1st prize with their lambs and 2nd prize with their cattle.

Today in Family Friday, we issued reminders about support available to support emotional well-being. Example for Year 7 YouHQ Year 7

We send Weekly Revision Tips to Years 11 and 13 students and their parents and students. If you or your daughter or son did not receive these earlier this week, please let us know.

Year 11 Revision Tips – Monday, December 1st          Year 13 Revision Tips – Monday, December 1st

It is important that Years 11 and 13 students start planning a weekly revision timetable, if they have not already. Please do encourage your daughter or son to do this to do this and to share their timetable with you.

On Monday evening Young Farmers will host Carols with the Animals on the School Farm. Please join us for 7pm.

Next Wednesday, Mrs Eastham will accompany a party of Brockhill students and staff to our beautiful Saltwood Church for our annual carol service. There are still a few places available. Please complete the  consent form  Carol Service Information Letter and Consent Form

Next Friday, December 12th Brockhill Park Performing Arts College will be holding a non-uniform day for Save the Children www.savethechildren.org.uk.

Students are welcome to wear items of clothing with a Christmas theme, but we do not want students or their parents to feel pressurised into buying ‘Christmas Jumpers.’ We are asking students to donate £1 for this non-uniform day.

The day will operate as a ‘dress down’ day for staff, who will also be contributing. We are proud of our students and their commitment to supporting others and believe this is an opportunity for students and staff to relax slightly and support a very worthy cause.

Please choose a book with your daughter or son, if they are not currently reading one.   Digital Library – Autumn Term – 2nd half

Our colleagues at Folkestone & Hythe District Council have asked us to forward Community Safety Partnership (CSP) newsletter (November 2025)

Best Wishes to all students and their families as we enter the last two weeks of this busy term.

Yours sincerely,

Charles Joseph

Principal
