Letter to Parents 13th June 2025
June 13th 2025
Dear Parents
Students have worked very well this week and enjoyed the warmer weather. Teachers have awarded 2007 Excellent Effort points this week! Thank you, parents and families for all your support.
We will keep students fully engaged around their classroom learning right up until the end of the summer term, and also to undertake as many enrichment activities as possible. I am constantly amazed at our staff’s desire and hunger to organise Trips and visiting speakers to ensure we provide students with a ‘window on the world.’
This week, Years 9 and 10 Art students have been involved in preparations for the Charivari festival in Folkestone, which this year celebrates the theme of the renovation of the Leas lift. The week has also seen 30 Year 8 students participate in a Shakespeare workshop at the Globe theatre, and the choir taking in Michael Jackson, The Musical at the Prince Edward Theatre in London. Volunteering has once again been to the fore with our student Sports Leaders supporting the St Augustine’s Primary School Sports Day and coaching primary school students in cricket at the Saltwood Cricket Club. Elsewhere, students have gardened in the community, supported younger readers and attended intergenerational coffee mornings. Year 5 students have also visited our Farm and our Fun Food Farming Fair, where they learned from our students about the sourcing of food and sustainability. We have also welcomed the Army to school today, who have complimented us on the engagement and fine behaviour of our student body.
We look forward to welcoming parents to Sports Day on the afternoon of Thursday, June 26th and will send more information before then.
Sixth Form Induction for current Year 11 students will take place from Monday, June 23rd – Wednesday, June 25th.
Public Examinations are nearing their end and our examination focus is shifting to all Year Groups, who will sit Walking-Talking Mock (teachers help) and then Pre-Public (teachers do not help) Examinations this term to begin or continue their preparation for Public Examinations.
The ‘examination’ activities will of course be age appropriate and designed by teachers to increase student confidence, as well as test how much students remember of what they have learnt.
Through our website, we aim to signpost students and parents to organisations, which provide support for the range of issues we may all encounter in daily life. Please do take a look. Support for Young People and Their Parents
Thank you to so many of you who have reached out to us with words of thanks over these past weeks, as your children move on to Sixth Form. These words are so gratefully received.
There are more qualified teachers, who choose not to teach in schools than do and it is vitally important that we retain them. Your words and encouragement are so important.
If you have an interest in teacher training, please contact our Mr Travers by mailing office@brockhill.kent.sch.uk as we are still recruiting for September.
Have a lovely weekend.
Yours Sincerely,
Charles Joseph
Principal
