Letter to Parents 31st March

Dear Parents and students

Thank you for all your support of your daughters and sons this half-term.

We have sent 1515 electronic merit point messages in this second week to parents of students, where teachers have recognised they are completing their personal best home or classwork.

We are delighted to be sending letters of commendation to the parents of 1263 students today for the submission of personal best class and homework assignments. Of the 1263 students, 313 have been nominated by 3 or more of their teachers and their parents will also receive a Bronze, Silver or gold Certificate of Commendation.

Today, Mrs Mann is retiring after 22 years of service to this school and its students, and Mr Fussell, our Subject Leader for PE leaves us on promotion. The strength of PE and Sport provision at Brockhill is testament to his and his team’s work.

On Monday, Year 10 Animal Care students visited Port Lympne, whilst Years 12 & 13 attended a Sport Psychology event in Ashford on Tuesday and Sociology students a Sociology conference at the University of Kent on Wednesday. We also welcomed a visit to our School Farm from St Margaret’s-at-Cliffe primary school.

In Daily Tutor time last week students received a lot of input around vaping and its dangers. Vaping is an issue, which has affected schools across the land, including this one. Many vaping products sold in shops do not comply with legal requirements, and there is as yet little monitoring of the shops selling these products. Next term, we will continue our work on this subject with students.

Teachers have continued to set homework tasks this week for all Year Groups and have provided revision resources and tasks on Google classroom for students in Years 11 & 13 sitting Public Examinations in the summer.

Please have your daughter or son choose a book – hopefully at least their second this term - to read for 20 minutes daily, from Digital Library Spring Term 2023

We will look forward to welcoming students back to school on Monday, April 17th for the first week of the summer term.

Have a peaceful Easter.

Yours sincerely,

Charles Joseph

Principal
