Letter to Parents of Year 11 students

October 2nd 2020

Dear Parents/ Guardians

Thank you for your ongoing support of your child and us since our return to school.

We now wish to start after school provision for Year 11 students in English, Mathematics and Science. On account of our much enhanced cleaning regime after school and social distancing measures this provision will be delivered via Webex through the Google Classroom.

We will run 2 sessions in each subject as set out below. The content of the 2 sessions in each subject will be different: students may join both or either of the 2 sessions running each day from Tuesday – Thursday. Invitations will be sent to student email accounts on Monday after school.

The sessions will start and end promptly at the times shown and the classroom will be locked on the dot at the start time to avoid the disruption of late arrivals.

School uniform will not be obligatory for the sessions, but students should be dressed appropriately and our normal ground rules will apply during the sessions. Students should be seated at a desk or table and it will be helpful for them to activate their camera as these are intended as live face-to-face sessions.

It is not our current intention to record them and make them available thereafter.

We will review these arrangements over the coming weeks and inform you of relevant updates.

As we stated last week, we do not know what the future will bring in terms of Public Examinations: Year 11 and Year 13 could possibly be in the position of having to rely on our predictions to Examination Boards, which would be rank ordered across their Year Group, for their final Grade. Any predictions we make will be based on half-termly summative assessment tests, which we will each be graded and rank ordered.

We are encouraging students to work hard and early as the academic year starts up and not ‘leave it until the last minute.’

Yours Sincerely,

Sonette Schwartz

Principal
