Letter to Parents 10th July 2026

July 10th 2026

Dear Parents and Students

Thank you for your support of your daughters and sons and of course of us over this past week.

This week has seen us volunteering watering plants to ensure Hythe remains in bloom, attending careers and team-building events with the Army, athletics events in Dover and Year 7 involved in our own Literacy and Numeracy tournament on site here at Brockhill. Students have worked hard in the classroom too earning 2346 Excellent Effort Points by break this morning.

Next Thursday afternoon, we are looking forward to welcoming you to Brockhill for our rescheduled Sports Day. We will provide fuller details early next week. Then, Friday, July 17th – the final day of term – will see us ending the school year with our Brockhill Tag Trek. School will finish at midday on that day with school transport departing then. The day will run as a non-uniform day, and we ask students and staff to donate £1, which we will donate to Great Ormond Street Hospital. We will also share the money raised with the Rainbow Centre in Folkestone to support the charity work they do across our local area. https://www.rainbow-centre.org/

Please ensure students wear appropriate footwear for the trek and that they bring a hat, sun cream and plenty of water. School transport will depart shortly after midday on Friday.

The same precautions clearly apply to Sports Day too, particularly as there is little shade on our beautiful field.

We will maintain our current choice of wearing school uniform or Brockhill PE kit next week.

We have a lot of unnamed lost property in the student office, which you are welcome to try to identify next week.

This week we have been talking to students about the Work Packs we are providing in each subject for students to complete over the summer holiday. These will be set out in a weekly format, so students can easily see what tasks they need to complete in a given week.

Maintaining good and regular study habits over the summer holiday will support them to do well in September and the tasks we set will still leave plenty of time for leisure and valuable family time! We will of course be recognising students’ efforts as we start back in September.

Here again, is our Digital Library. We want all our students to read for pleasure for 20 minutes a day over the summer. Students who read daily understand and achieve so much more highly across their school subjects.

And if you missed it last week, the Folkestone & Hythe District Council Community Safety Partnership Newsletter.

Yours Sincerely,

Charles Joseph

Principal
