Letter to Parents 27th February 2026
February 27th 2026
Dear Parents and students
We welcomed the students back to school on Monday and since then they have earned 4404 Excellent Effort Points. We are delighted with this and thank the students for their hard work and their families for all their support.
This week we have issued new Homework booklets covering all subjects for students. The aims of our Independent Learning Folders – ILFs are to give students greater ownership and responsibility for their homework and for this to align more fully with what they learn in class, as well as to support parents to oversee their child’s Homework assignments. By way of reminder please see our Independent Learning Folder Reminders
We have begun this half-term with 67 students visiting the Marlowe Theatre for a performance of ‘Christmas Carol Goes Wrong’ and Year 12 Health and Social Care students visiting Tynwald Nursing Home for their studies. Our Years 7 & 9 basketballers have been in action across the area. I am impressed by their victories and most of all for their commitment!
As we embark upon this half-term and these crucial weeks in advance of Public Examinations beginning, we will continue to run revision sessions across the range of subjects for Years 11 & 13 students on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after school. Please encourage your daughter or son to attend. The support they receive at these revision sessions is vital and excellent preparation for the summer.

Last year the outcomes for Brockhill students (GCSE Results 2025) with 95%+ attendance were stunning. It was a similar picture at A level.

The GCSE and A level results of those with less than 90% attendance were less impressive. So this week, we have been emphasising the importance of 98%+ attendance in our conversations with Years 11 and 13 students together with punctuality to school in the mornings. Regular and high levels of attendance to school are so important as we enter this final build up to Public Examinations.
Please check your daughter or son’s attendance percentage.
We have sent Homework texts this week for a range of subjects in Years 7 – 11 and Years 12 & 13. Please do check in which subjects your daughter or son is due to submit homework assignments in the coming week. Of course, it is entirely possible for a student to receive Excellent Effort Points and commendations as well as homework reminder texts in the same week! In Examination Year Groups, students who do not submit homework assignments will simply perform less well in Public Examinations. Your support is vital here.
We run weekly Meet the SENDCO sessions on Mondays during the morning. If you have any questions or concerns about SEND provision and how it relates to your child, you can make an appointment to meet a member of our SENDCO team. If you would like to take this opportunity, please email send@brockhill.kent.sch.uk by the end of Thursday of the previous week, so we can get back to you with a suitable time. This is a new initiative for us, so please bear with us if demand is high.
Our friends at Folkestone & Hythe District Council have asked us to share the Community Safety Partnership newsletter - February 2026
Have a lovely weekend.
Yours sincerely,
Charles Joseph
Principal
