Letter to Parents 11th July 2025

July 11th 2025

Dear Parents and students

Thank you for your support of your daughters and sons and of course of us over this past week.

This week, has seen Bowling trips for Years 9, 10 and 12 students. groups of Year 10 students have undertaken Geography GCSE Fieldwork in the local area, whilst large numbers of students supported the full range of Subject Areas for our Year 5 Open Evening on Tuesday. 13 of our most enthusiastic readers accompanied our librarian, Ms. Brown to Waterstones to choose books for the school library; older students have attended University of Kent research skills workshops, and younger students have volunteered in the community, cleaning and gardening. We are so proud of our student volunteers: - they will enrich the world throughout their lifetime.

Friday, July 18th – the final day of term – will see us ending the school year with our Brockhill Tag Trek. School will finish at midday on that day with school transport departing then. The day will run as a non-uniform day, and we ask students and staff to donate £1, which we will donate to Great Ormond Street Hospital via Mr Zintel-Warner’s Geo Cycling Just Giving Page  Cycling Around the World for Great Ormond Street Hospital

We will also share the money raised with the Rainbow Centre in Folkestone to support the charity work they do across our local area. https://www.rainbow-centre.org/

Please ensure students wear appropriate footwear for the trek and that they bring a hat, sun cream and plenty of water. School transport will depart shortly after midday.

We have a lot of unnamed lost property in the student office, which you are welcome to try to identify next week.

This week we have been talking to students about the Work Packs we are providing in each subject for students to complete over the summer holiday. These will be set out in a weekly format, so students can easily see what tasks they need to complete in a given week.

Maintaining good and regular study habits over the summer holiday will support them to do well in September and the tasks we set will still leave plenty of time for leisure and valuable family time! We will of course be recognizing students’ efforts as we start back out in September.

We also spent time today in Academy Tutor time discussing strategies for staying safe over the long summer holiday. Family Friday – Keeping yourself safe over the summer

Here again, is our Digital Library We want all our students to read for pleasure for 20 minutes a day over the summer. Students who read daily understanding and achieve so much more highly across their school subjects.

Yours Sincerely,

Charles Joseph

Principal
