Letter to Parents 23rd May 2025
23rd May 2025
Dear Parents and students
We are delighted to be sending letters of commendation to the parents of 855 students today for the submission of personal best class and homework assignments during this half-term. Of the 855 students, 257 have been nominated by 3 or more of their teachers and their parents will also receive a Bronze, Silver or Gold Certificate of Commendation.
In addition, we sent 1142 electronic merit point messages between Monday and this morning to parents of students, where teachers have recognised they are completing their personal best home or classwork.
This week, Year 8 students enjoyed a wonderful day in France and had the opportunity to visit a French town, our French partner school- Notre-Dame, and a French supermarket. They played games with their French buddies at the school, attended lessons and did some shopping on the way home. Elsewhere, Sixth Form Drama students have visited the Globe Theatre for a performance of the Crucible, whilst younger Drama students have worked with members of the Royal Shakespeare Company schools’ support programme in preparation for their summer performance.
Our student volunteers have helped with litter picking in the village, coached primary school students in Golf, run a Creative Writing session at Hythe Bay, repainted part of Hythe Skate Park and attended an intergenerational coffee morning. The engagement by our students in volunteering and of the staff, who support and guide them are an inspiration!
Students continue to impress this week with many in school for early morning final revision sessions running from 7am before sitting Public Examinations.
After the half-term break, we will continue to vary our timetable daily, in order to ensure we provide students in Years 11 with the best possible support in advance of their next examinations by having the ‘right’ teacher for the ‘right’ subject in class with them. I cannot emphasise enough the importance of students maintaining the highest high levels of attendance to all their lessons after Public Examinations commence.
Teachers have continued to set homework tasks this week for all Year Groups and have provided revision resources and tasks on Google classroom for students in Years 11 & 13 sitting Public Examinations.

The School Council have also met under the guidance of Mr Haisell and adopted Great Ormond Street the Evelina London Childrens’ hospital as our designated school charities for the year to come.
Today, students have considered examples of kindness demonstrated by our students in our school and local community. This warms our hearts.
Please check your child has chosen a book from our latest digital library. We really want all our students to keep up their 20 minutes a day reading habit over the holiday.
We look forward to welcoming students back on site at Brockhill on Monday, June 2nd.
Have a lovely half-term.
Yours sincerely,
Charles Joseph
Principal
