Letter to parents 29th January

 January 29th 2021

Dear Parents / Guardians

Thank you for your support of Home School this week. The very large majority of our students are approaching their learning positively and energetically, and progressing very well. We have so much to commend them for and so very much to be grateful to their parents and families for.  We and the children’s teachers are very optimistic about students’ current learning, as well as for their prospects for further success when they rejoin us on site.

Today, we have written separately to parents of Years 8 & 9 students about Access Arrangements to BPPAC next week for HPV Vaccination. Please look out for the letter and adhere to our requests, so the days run smoothly.

Our Parents’ Day for Years 7 & 8 on Monday, February 22nd will run from 10am – 6pm with 5 minute video appointments and 5 minutes ‘movement time’ in between each appointment to allow us all time to navigate the technology. We will provide you with details about how bookings may be made next week. On Monday, February 22nd classwork assignments will be set in the Google Classroom for all lessons in all Year Groups and students will be asked to submit these at the end of the day.

We are extending our Reading Breakout Groups within timetabled Live Online English lessons to Year 8 next week and to Year 9 in the week beginning February 8th. We very much wish all our students from Years 7 – 13 to undertake 20 minutes reading a day, as this is so helpful to their development.

We wish to do all we possibly can to ensure all our students access our full curriculum by attendance to Live Online lessons and completion of class and homework assignments set in Google Classroom and have now moved to a further phase of preparing and loaning computer / IT equipment to students, where students may be struggling with shared equipment in their household. Please contact office@brockhill.kent.sch.uk if you believe this may be helpful to Home School in your household.

Our Guidance Managers continue to work hard to make telephone contact with families this week to check on student welfare and to raise any concerns we may have around student attendance to Live Online lessons or submission of assignments.

Daily Tutor Time activities are posted in the Google Classroom:

Monday: Literacy

Tuesday: Digital Library

Wednesday:  Numeracy

Thursday: PSHE

Friday: Quiz

Students should access these materials and submit their work to their Daily Tutor at the end of each day.

Today, you should receive your weekly Guardian Summary in respect of your daughter or son’s learning this week. We hope this is useful to you and your child. If you do not receive this, please contact us on Monday and we will resend an invitation.

We want all our students to remain safe by following the National Lockdown Guidance

as well as to remember social distancing, hand washing and face coverings, so as to play their part in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.

Yours Sincerely,
