Letter to Parents 9th February 2024

February 9th 2024

Dear Parents and students

This last week of the half-term has flown by with students raising several hundred pounds for the NSPCC yesterday.

Students have worked very hard this week and earned 1634 Excellent Effort Points by midday today. Thank you parents for all your support. This lies behind every one of the students’ achievements.

We are delighted to be sending letters of commendation to the parents of 1123 students today for the submission of personal best class and homework assignments. Of the 1123 students, 714 have been nominated by 3 or more of their teachers and their parents will also receive a Bronze, Silver or gold Certificate of Commendation.

If your daughter or son has not yet applied for a place in our Sixth Form, please encourage them to do so over the half-term. Our Sixth Form Induction will run for 3 days from immediately after GCSE examinations from Monday, June 24th – Wednesday, June 26th.

Every single one of our Year 11 students has entered education or employment or training for many years and we want none of our students left behind. To that end Mr Coles has organised a number of events in school during this National Apprenticeship Week.

If your child has not yet chosen a book to read for 20 minutes daily, please have them choose and read a book from Digital Library – Spring Term 2023 - 24

We have sent Homework texts this week for a range of subjects in Years 7 – 11 and Years 12 & 13. Please do check in which subjects your daughter or son is due to submit homework assignments after half-term.

Of course, it is entirely possible for a student to receive Excellent Effort Points and commendations as well as homework reminder texts in the same week!

If you are not claiming Free School Meals but believe you may be eligible please apply now via:

We have been advised by Kent County Council of possible support for energy costs where families are not in receipt of Free School Meals on a first come served basis with applications closing on February 26th.

Separately, we currently have a large number of books, which are overdue for return to our school library. Please check this with your daughter or son, so they are returned before half term and then available to the next reader.

We will look forward to welcoming students back to school on Monday, February 19th.

We hope you enjoy our half-termly Newsletter. Please click here.

Have a lovely weekend.

Yours sincerely,

Charles Joseph

Principal
