Letter to Parents 29th April

April 29th 2022

Dear Parents / Guardians

Thank you for your support this and last week getting the students back into school punctually each day, ready to learn in correct uniform and with all the necessary equipment. Your support is essential and very much appreciated.

Prior to the Easter holiday we sent out 452 commendations in recognition of students’ submission of personal best standard class- and homework assignments. We also sent 375 commendations to celebrate students achieving 98%+ attendance. We are extremely proud of the efforts and commitment of our students and deeply conscious of how fortunate we are to have such a supportive parental body. This is a short half-term and we will be asking teachers to nominate for commendation in just a few weeks from now. Please let your daughter or son know.

For the parents of students sitting Public Examinations this summer please see the following important and useful Gov.uk publication:

The Education Hub: Everything you need to know about Covid measures during exams this summer

Since we returned to school on Wednesday, April 20th we have had 20 students and 2 members of staff test positive for COVID-19 –only 6 students in school. Many have been asymptomatic.  We continue to support and encourage students who wish to wear face coverings in class and on school transport. We will monitor the currently improved situation in the coming weeks with a view to reducing Lateral Flow Testing and limiting this to where we have concerns about a group or groups of students.

This and next half-term we will be continuing to ensure students access as many extra-curricular opportunities as possible. This week, students have visited Dover Castle and represented the school at events at the Leas Cliff Hall. They have also participated in sporting fixtures with other schools and many are commencing preparations for Performing Arts shows to run later in the term. We are also beginning to look at taking students further afield.

We wish all our students and their families a peaceful Bank Holiday weekend.

Yours Sincerely,

Sonette Schwartz                              Charles Joseph
