Uniform YES or NO?

Who wants uniform? Why is it needed? We went around Brockhill school, and interviewed a variety of students and teachers, to get their opinion on the school uniform.

We interviewed our deputy head Mr Joseph to see what his views and opinions are.
“I think school uniform is good so we can be part of a strong community, If we do something, do it well, if we wear uniform, we must wear it well.”
We have many problems about school uniform at our school, as there are so many different views.  Many people customise their uniform so that they show that they can be different, we got a quote from a year 7 student, who believes uniform shouldn’t be customised.
Uniform is good, because if you wear your own clothes, people will judge you by what you wear, not who you are.”
We also interviewed Mr Spratley who has a very strong view on school uniform….
“I think the school uniform is scruffy, and doesn’t represent the intelligence of the student body. Uniform should be smarter, with ties and blazers. This should put the students into a working frame of mind, and leads to honour and pride to be part of the school. By changing the uniform, it can push boundaries of kids to look smart, and feel smart.”
We asked pupils what they thought about it, and got many different responses.  Some people agree and some disagree with the thought of school uniform.
Question: What do you think about school uniform?
Y9 Students
Girl: I think our school is great, but the uniform puts it down, and makes us look tacky. Should be much smarter.
Y10 Students
Boy: Its not fair, we’re all meant to be equal. But in the summer, girls can wear skirts, but boys can’t wear shorts.
Girl: Its rubbish, makes me feel like im going to school looking scruffy, But I like the polo shirt and we don’t have enough tag days.
Once we interviewed a year 10 student, we then went back to Mr Joseph to get his response on her quote.
“1 non-uniform day a term (6 days a year as there are 6 terms) so we can raise money for charity.”

From a unknown source the head teacher Sonette Schwartz said that school uniform will not be changed unless the school council come together with ideas and then will take it to her. She will then make a final decision is it will change or not.
Mrs Mountford
“My opinion on uniform . I think it’s a good thing, because it stops arguments about the money side of things. Also,  it helps prevent bullying because other people have less money and could not wear as nice clothes. “

School uniform can be a good and bad thing, we all have different opinions and points of views on it.
