How Can we Make Brockhill Park Performing Arts College School More Eco-Friendly?
Brockhill Park Performing Arts College School is a mixed comprehensive for 11-18 year olds. The school has received a bronze award for eco-friendly schools, but are they doing enough? Around the school there are problems like: leaving radiators on for 24 hours, even in warm weather, not enough recycling bins and there is the issue of double glazing. We asked some of the teachers about their opinion on how the school can become more eco-friendly.
Mr. Jessop, one of the Humanities teachers said “we should teach the students more geography, that way, they will understand the real affect they are having on the environment” hdfgf
gMr. Porter, a science teacher tells us his ideas on how we can improve. “I think it is really vital, especially for young people, to see and understand how important it is to be eco-friendly and save the environment. We need to have recycling bins in every room and maybe try and not use the heating when the weather is hot” gggggggggggggggggggggggjThere are mixed opinions about whether or not we should improve. Mrs Gibson, head of Rother and Humanities teacher said “I think we do enough, we have won a bronze award for being eco-friendly. But I am always up for improving our school! I will always support any of the schools plans to be more eco-friendly”
We asked year 9 pupil Joel what he thought. “We don’t recycle enough; they need to save energy by turning the lights off and teachers should car share. That will be easier” And Tallulah, another year 9 student says “Now I think about it, I haven’t seen anyone recycling, maybe the teachers need to make it more obvious about the fact they want us to recycle”
In future the school hope that we can improve are eco-friendly items and have a better system than we do now.
