Lambing Day
On Sunday 28 March at Brockhill Park Performing Arts College, Lambing Day will take place from 10am till 4pm. There will be newborn lambs, and also on show will be our existing farm animals, pets and even reptiles!
As a bonus visitors will also be able to ride donkeys.
We asked Miss Hawkes some questions about lambing and Lambing Day. Firstly we asked here how many lambs the school are expecting? ‘The sheep have been scanned and the results were ten singles, six twins and two sets of triplets. We are very happy with the scanning results.' Then we asked her how much is a lamb worth when it is ready to sell to the market? Miss Hawks said the lambs sell for about £60 on average. Next we asked Miss Hawkes how long does the lambing period take you? 'Normally it takes about four weeks at a maximum. The Young Farmers help a lot preparing the farm and the day before Lambing Day they have a day cleaning the farm. They call it Operation Clean Sweep.' Hopefully Lambing Day will be a great success, as it was last year.
