Brockhill Park Performing Arts College is set in the ‘Garden of England’, in Saltwood, near Hythe. Brockhill Park has acres of country around it, and the school has its own farm with many different farm animals.
There are six dance teachers at Brockhill – it’s the only school in Kent, and maybe in the country, that has as many as six instructors to help the many dance students with their very hard but very enjoyable choice of lesson.
Mrs. Francis, one of much loved dance-teachers at Brockhill Park Performing Arts College, said, “Brockhill Park has the best dance exam results in the county for boys; dance is very personal for students and builds character and team skills.”
Students at Brockhill start taking dance in Year 7 through to Year 8; if they enjoy the subject they can take it as a GCSE option, and even study it as an A Level.
Everyone at Brockhill enjoys dance, and everyone has the chance to try it and see if they like it enough to take it up as an option. Brockhill students have a great opportunity to make use of their dance facilities.
Miss Scarlet, dance teacher at Brockhill Park said, “it’s inclusive for both girls and boys, develops problem-solving and team skills. Above all, it’s fun and physical.”
Brockhill entered the ‘Young Creatives’ (who work with Youth Dance England) with two dance pieces - and both were accepted. This is an incredible achievement for the pupils as there were only twelve entries from the whole country. Brockhill’s entrants were Danny (6 th form) who did a solo dance, and Sam (6 th form) who performed with three other students. They had the honour of presenting their work on stage at the Royal Opera House in London.
