Letter to Parents 1st November

Dear Parents/ Guardians

Thank you for your support of your child and us since our return to school.

The students continue to settle back to their new and still slightly different school routine. We have begun running sports’ fixtures, school trips in the local area and lunchtime clubs. There are 34 of these and we would like each student to sign up to at least one in the week.

We hope you are finding the weekly summary of work set useful. If you have not already activated the Google Classroom Guardian feature to receive this or are encountering difficulty please let us know.

Today, we are enclosing our Digital Library for the autumn term. It contains a range of exciting and enjoyable books to read for each year Group from Years 7 – 13. We want to encourage all our students to read for pleasure. Please ensure they choose a book and read each day for at least 20 minutes. Research evidence is very clear in respect of students who read daily understanding and achieving so much more highly across their school subjects.

Please try to ensure your daughter or son is punctual to school in the morning and that they always bring the correct equipment to school.  Please see our student Equipment List HERE.

We are advised that Public Examinations will take place for Years 11 and 13 in summer 2022, though the content examined in each subject will be reduced somewhat. We have also begun setting up and folders of students’ assessed work this school year. We are encouraging all students to work hard and early as the academic year starts up and not ‘leave it until the last minute.’

We will write to you separately about changes to the dates of NHS influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations at Brockhill, following the opening up of the national bookings’ system for 12 – 15 year olds. We continue testing students once weekly as per our regular schedule for the autumn term.
